Taylor named CBH Most Valuable Player By The Daily Republic Kimball/White Lake senior Jesse Taylor was named the Custer Battlefield Highway Conference most valuable player for boys’ basketball. Taylor was also named to the first team, along with teammate Jacob Kirsch, a senior, Corsica/Stickney senior Adam Bormann, Ethan junior Blake Bartscher and Sanborn Central/Woonsocket senior Nick Miller.

Kimball/White Lake senior Jesse Taylor was named the Custer Battlefield Highway Conference most valuable player for boys’ basketball.
Taylor was also named to the first team, along with teammate Jacob Kirsch, a senior, Corsica/Stickney senior Adam Bormann, Ethan junior Blake Bartscher and Sanborn Central/Woonsocket senior Nick Miller.
Mount Vernon/Plankinton had two players in the second team in senior Jared Long and junior Deric Denning. Joining the two Titans were Ethan junior Jace Connor, Corsica/Stickney sophomore Austin Tilton and Sanborn Central Woonssocket senior Todd Stekl.
Players named to the third team were Mount Vernon/Plankinton senior Kellam Karst, Kimball/White Lake seniors Kyle Peters and Trevor Reinesch, Sanborn Central/Woonsocket junior Davion Brooks and Mitchell Christian senior Adam Rasmussen.
Corsica/Stickney senior Lane Thomas, Ethan junior Tyler Myers, Mount Vernon/Plankinton junior Cote Hinker, Kimball/White Lake senior Russell Pick and Sanborn Central/Woonsocket junior Tyler Kreuger were given honorable mention honors.
Six Blackhawk players earn conference honors

Six players on the Sanborn Central/Woonsocket girls’ basketball team were given all-Custer Battlefield Highway Conference honors.
Junior Shelby Selland was named to the first team and most valuable player.
Along with Selland, SCW senior Rachelle Moore, Corsica/Stickney sophomore Hope Menning, Ethan sophomore Darbi Gustafson and Kimball/White Lake senior Maria Nightingale were given first team honors.
Mitchell Christian juniors Alexa Van Laecken and Becca Glanzer were named to the second team, which includes Sanborn Central/Woonsocket junior Marissa Weber and eighth-grader Myah Selland and Ethan eighth-grader Rachel Hawkins.
Corsica/Stickney senior Jessica Hoogers and sophomore Micayla Bamberg, Kimball/White Lake junior Jazmyn Hinker, Mount Vernon/Plankinton freshman Megan Bultsma and Blackhawk junior Rachel Selland were named to the third team.
Honorable mention honorees consist of Mitchell Christian senior Brittany Zoss, Ethan senior Whitney Endres, WiLdKat senior Hailey Mohnen, Blackhawk senior Candace Page-Marten and Titan freshman Payleen O’Day.
Chamberlain, Winner each get three on Big Dakota team

The Chamberlain and Winner girls’ basketball teams each landed three players on the first-team Big Dakota all-conference team.
The two schools accounted for six of the 13 players on the list.
Chamberlain seniors Jaymee Knippling and Alex Pederson were joined by teammate Kennedy Wagner, a junior.
Joining the Chamberlain trio on the first-team list is Winner’s Kelsey Bertram, Cassidy Hanson and Tawny Barry.
Other players voted to the first-team were McLaughlin’s Shaunte’ Brown Otter, Miller’s Jansen Hunter and Jamie Mentzer, Todd County’s Erin Grimshaw and Selina Big Crow, Cheyenne Eagle-Butte’s Kaleb Shepherd and Nelly Dupris.
Local players selected as honorable mention were Winner’s Katie Mathis and Chamberlain’s Logan Pickner and Corrina Reuer.
Wagner’s Weber, Kuca named to LMVC first team

The Wagner girls’ basketball team landed two on the Little Missouri Valley all-conference first team.
Senior Nicole Weber and freshman Ali Kuca were joined on the first team by Parkston senior Erica Herrold, Avon junior Chesney Nagel and Scotland senior Aisha Abbink.
On the second team were senior Logan Picker, of Parkston, Andes Central senior Kellie Winckler, Bon Homme senior Karlee Kozak, Tripp-Delmont/Armour senior Kelli Batterman and Ariana Oorlog of Avon.
On the third team were Wagner junior Gina Soukup, Parkston senior McKenzie Weidenbach, Tripp-Delmont/Armour sophomore Hannah Just and Scotland senior Kennidy Asche and sophomore Carley Skorepa.
Chamberlain lands 2 on SESD first team

Two Chamberlain girls’ basketball players were named to the Southeast South Dakota all-conference first team.
Chamberlain senior Jaymee Knippling and junior Kennedy Wagner were joined by senior Erica Herrold, of Parkston, senior Nicole Weber, of Wagner, and junior Josie DeGroot, of Platte-Geddes.
Players named to the second team are Parkston senior Logan Wagner, Scotland senior Aisha Abbink, Wagner freshman Ali Kuca, Chamberlain senior Logan Pickner and Platte-Geddes senior Kelly Knudson.
Scotland senior Kennidy Asche and sophomore Carley Skorepa, Wagner junior Gina Soukup, Bon Homme senior Karlee Kozak and Chamberlain senior Corrina Reuer were named to the third team.
Five DWU athletes earn NAIA honors

Five Dakota Wesleyan University athletes earned Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors, it was announced recently.
Amanda Hart, Elizabeth Lamb and Brittany Hills — all from the women’s basketball team — James O’Halloran from the men’s basketball squad and wrestler Tyler Sarringar all garnered scholar-athlete honors this season.
O’Halloran is a junior criminal justice with a 3.56 GPA.
Hart, an Alexandria native, is a junior sports management and journalism major with a 3.67 GPA and earned all-GPAC second-team honors.
Sarringar is an junior athletic training major with a 3.96 GPA. He also qualified for the NAIA national wrestling tournament.
Hills is a senior elementary education with a 3.72 GPA. Lamb, a senior accounting and criminal justice major, has a 3.93 GPA and earned all-GPAC honorable mention honors.
Morgan signs with Wesleyan men

Mitchell High School guard Cole Morgan signed with the Dakota Wesleyan University men’s basketball team Tuesday.
In his senior season for the Kernels, Morgan averaged 9.5 points per game and played in all 22 games for the Mitchell. His season high was 25 points.
