A Minnesota man who admitted to violating multiple terms of his probation has been sentenced to 180 days in jail and two years of probation.

Ian Chapman, 21, admitted in court last month that he missed several appointments with his probation officer, failed to complete a chemical dependency evaluation, drank alcohol and tested positive for cocaine while on probation.

Judge Tim Bjorkman sentenced Chapman on Tuesday in Mitchell to 180 days in jail and another two years on probation from the sentencing date. Chapman was given credit for 72 days he has already served in the Davison County Jail.

Chapman received a suspended imposition from Bjorkman in 2010 and was put on probation after being convicted of possession of a controlled substance. A suspended imposition of sentence gives offenders the opportunity to keep a clear record if they follow all terms of probation.

Bjorkman continued the terms of Chapman’s suspended imposition as part of the sentencing.
