A Rapid City woman who admitted to using methamphetamine while on probation will undergo treatment before being sentenced.

Cassandra Wright, 23, was scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday in Mitchell for violating multiple terms of her probation for a possession of methamphetamine conviction, but Judge Tim Bjorkman postponed sentencing so Wright can enroll in an inpatient substance abuse treatment program in Rapid City.

Prosecutors did not object to the sentencing being postponed. Wright’s court-appointed attorney Doug Papendick agreed to notify the court as soon as Wright is able to enter the program.

Wright could have all or part of a suspended five-year prison sentence re-imposed.

Wright’s sentencing is now scheduled for May.
