Martin woman gets prison for dealing drugs near school

SIOUX FALLS (AP) — A South Dakota woman has been sentenced in federal court for dealing drugs near a school.

Forty-five-year-old Claudia Apple, of Martin, pleaded guilty in October to distribution of a controlled substance.

Authorities say the incident happened on Jan. 31, 2012, when Apple distributed 15 prescription pills within 1,000 feet of a school.

U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Viken sentenced Apple to one year in prison and six years of supervised release.
