The Mitchell Board of Education will consider appointing a new principal for Mitchell High School when the board meets in regular session at 5:30 p.m. today in room 116 of the Mitchell Technical Institute north campus building.
Superintendent Joe Graves said last week that he will recommend hiring Longfellow Elementary School Principal Joe Childs to succeed retiring MHS principal Yvonne Palli at the end of the current school year.
If the board approves, Childs will be paid $80,000 a year.
Childs was the top candidate from more than 30 applicants, Graves said.
The board will also consider, as part of its consent agenda, approving several new hires for the 2013-2014 school year.
As part of the brief agenda, Graves will also update the board on the new Mass Customized Learning initiative at Mitchell Middle School, and the progress of hail damage claims from the May 5 hail storm.
