Donna Trusty, Sweeney, Texas

Donna Joyce (Hanson) Trusty, 79, Sweeney, Texas, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at her home in Sweeney.

She was born on Oct. 8, 1933.

A private memorial service will be held in Texas when the pink crepe myrtles, her favorite trees, bloom this spring.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society or any favorite animal care charity.

Donna was born to Ole and Mable (Eccles) Hanson in Roswell.

She graduated from Howard High School and received a teaching certificate from Dakota State College in Madison in 1952.

Donna was married to Dalton (Tony) Trusty from 1953 to 1982 and they had four children. Throughout her career, she worked in school systems, including Howard, Artesian, and Houston, Texas. She followed her children to Houston in 1985 where she taught Early Childhood Special Education at Alexander Elementary School before retiring in 1993.

She loved her students, friends, family gatherings, creating photo albums, gardening, watching sunsets and caring for her pets.

Those grateful for having shared her life are her children: Debora (Pat) Elston, Houston; David Trusty, Cypress, Texas; Robbin (Stan) Trusty, Austin, Texas; Shawn Trusty, Sweeny; and “adopted son,” Robert Edwards; sister, Betty Barkman of Roswell; brothers: Jesse (Shirley), Nunda; Gordon (Lois), Roswell; Mike, Fedora; brother-in-law, Sig Elle, Sioux Falls; many nieces and nephews; as well as her beloved cat Tom.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Robert and James; sister, Marjorie Elle, and sisters-inlaw Marian, Janet and Ruth.
