Mitchell High School Activities Director Geoff Gross said he’s making an “exciting” announcement at 10:05 a.m. Central time today from Rapid City, the site of the Class AA girls’ state basketball tournament.
The Daily Republic confirmed the announcement is linked to Avera Queen of Peace.
School officials have been working in recent weeks on a plan to upgrade the weight room at Mitchell High School, but Gross declined further comment.

Hanebuth bowls honor score Monday night

Jeff Hanebuth bowled an 803 series Monday night at Village Bowl, Mitchell.
Hanebuth bowled a 299, 257 and 247 scores in the Universal League.
Mitchell’s Sadler commits to MMC

Mitchell senior Michael Sadler has committed to the Mount Marty baseball program, it was announced Friday.
Sadler, a catcher and pitcher for the Mitchell club and Legion baseball teams, was an all-region selection in both his sophomore and junior years.
Sadler will join Mount Marty this fall.
“He has been coming to our baseball camps since he was in eighth grade,” Mount Marty coach Andy Bernatow said. “He’s a tremendous young man that has been a joy to work with over the years and I’m excited to have him join our program.”
