LOWER BRULE -- A Lower Brule man has been sentenced to more than 12 years in prison for sex abuse.
Martin Charger, 37, was sentenced Wednesday to 151 months in prison and five years of supervised release.
Charger was indicted for aggravated sexual abuse of a child by a federal grand jury on July 10, and pleaded guilty to sexual abuse on Dec. 18.
The charge stems from an incident in 2007, when Charger was in an intimate relationship with the victim’s mother. Charger intimidated the victim, who was younger than 12, to engage in sexual acts. The victim engaged in this conduct because she was in fear of Charger.
Charger was immediately remanded to the U.S. Marshals Service.
