PIERRE (AP) — South Dakota lawmakers are working to pass a state budget as the main run of this year's legislative session comes to an end.

The budget is the biggest remaining issue facing the Legislature.

The Joint Appropriations Committee hoped to finish work on the $4.1 billion spending plan by midday so the House and Senate can pass it later Friday, the final day of the session's main run.

The lawmakers will return to the Capitol for a final day on March 25, when they will consider any vetoes issued by Gov. Dennis Daugaard.
