Junior Achievement of Mitchell began its annual fund drive recently.
JA hopes to reach a goal of $25,000 to continue providing JA programs for students in Mitchell. The 2013-14 fund drive is chaired by Rob Schelske and Greg Feiner.
Junior Achievement inspires and prepares young people to succeed in a global economy by bringing role models into classrooms to educate students on financial literacy, entrepreneurship and work-readiness skills. JA has been offering programs in Mitchell since 1996. JA programs are offered in grades second through fourth, sixth and high school in Mitchell schools.
“Junior Achievement programs empower students to make a connection between what they learn in school and what they will need to succeed in work and life,” said Kayla Eitreim, president of Junior Achievement of South Dakota. “Students who participate in Junior Achievement’s hands-on programs learn about economics and business concepts and have a greater understanding of the world and clearer expectations of the future.”
Junior Achievement is funded by local businesses through the annual fund drive, foundation dollars and special events. JA does not receive financial support from United Way or government agencies.
