Brent Havlik wraps up redshirt season at University of Wyoming

Mitchell native Brent Havlik recently wrapped up his redshirt season for the University of Wyoming wrestling team.

Havlik, who’s listed at 165/174 pounds, went 16-4 on the season with two pins and three major-decision wins. He was tied for ninth on the team with 16 wins and had the fifth-fasted pin of the season, a 1-minute, 4-second fall.

He placed in all four of the open tournaments in which he competed. He was second at the Cowboy Open, first in the Northwest Open, fifth in the UNK Holiday Open and third in the FHSU Bob Smith Open.

In April, Havlik will go to the FILA junior national wrestling tournament in Las Vegas. The top eight wrestlers in each weight class will go to the junior world trials.
