Match secured for Bella’s Garden
Fundraising continues for tribute to Mitchell girl killed by drunken driver in 2012.
Fundraising for Bella’s Butterfly Garden met its goal for a matching donation from Carolyn Thompson, of Thompson Law in Sioux Falls.
Thompson said if $5,000 was raised within 10 days for the garden, which is being built as a memorial for Iszabella “Bella” Morgan, the 9-year-old Mitchell girl who was killed by a drunken driver on March 24, Thompson would make a matching donation of $5,000.
The group has raised just over half the money needed for the $20,000 project and is still taking donations as well as orders for cement pavers to be put in the garden.
Orders will be taken for pavers until April 1 and the group hopes to have the entire $20,000 raised by that date.
Construction is expected to begin this spring.
Monetary donations are also being taken for the garden at any U.S. Bank under the name Iszabella J Morgan Memorial Fund. Or, send directly to Bella’s Butterfly Garden, P.O. Box 254, Mitchell, S.D., 57301.
