PLANKINTON — Three Mount Vernon men were injured early Tuesday morning after a 2006 Chevrolet Impala rolled multiple times and came to rest in a field just east of Plankinton.
According to Aurora County Sheriff Dave Fink, the call came in around 2:20 a.m. Tuesday morning regarding a vehicle that had rolled multiple times in a field near the intersection of 253rd Street and U.S. Highway 281.
A news release from the South Dakota Department of Public Safety said Chris Kazi, 21, was driving the Impala eastbound on 253rd Street and did not stop at the intersection’s stop sign. The vehicle went out of control, the release said, and entered the ditch and rolled.
None of the three occupants of the vehicle was wearing a seat belt and all were ejected from the vehicle, according to the release. Kazi and passenger Jeffrey Miller, 22, suffered serious injuries, while the third passenger, Ryan Stahl, 21, was taken to a Sioux Falls hospital with critical injuries.
