To the Editor:

According to U.S. News and World Report, we began 2012 with a population of “roughly 312.8 million people.”

Phil Carlson, the newly elected chairman of the Davison County Republicans, writes: “According to the website www.hispanicvoters2012.com, there are around 50,500,000 Hispanics currently in our country. This is about 13 percent of our population.”

That comes out to a population of 388,461,530. Insert your own joke.
