Today's games at the Corn Palace: 3/1/13

Today, at the Corn Palace, Mitchell and Aberdeen Central face off in a District 3AA boys’ basketball elimination game and South Central plays Dakota Christian in the District 12B boys’ basketball championship.

Time: South Central vs. Dakota Christian, 6:30 p.m. Mitchell and Aberdeen Central follow at 8 p.m.

Records: South Central is 19-2, Dakota Christian is 11-10; Mitchell is 5-16, Aberdeen Central is 5-15.

Notes: South Central defeated Dakota Christian 53-51 on Jan. 3. … Dakota Christian beat Colome 55-40 Tuesday to reach the championship. … If Mitchell loses it will be the first time in 10 years the Kernels have not made the state tournament. … Aberdeen Central and Mitchell split the two regular-season contests ... The Golden Eagles won the first matchup 62-52 Jan. 5, in Mitchell. The Kernels took the second game 62-52 Feb. 8, in Aberdeen.

Next: Saturday, there will be four high school postseason basketball games at the Corn Palace. At 3 p.m., Mitchell High School hosts Rapid City Stevens in a girls’ Region 2AA state play-in game. At 4:30 p.m. is the District 11B boys’ championship between Ethan and Hanson. At 6 p.m., the Corsica/Stickney boys play Kimball/White Lake for the District 10B championship, and Hanson plays South Central in a girls’ Region 6B game at 7:30 p.m.
