A corporate officer of a Mitchell cleaning business was sentenced Tuesday to 90 days in jail and put on probation for three years.
Kelly Sterk, 43, who worked for Servicemaster by Sterk Inc., pleaded guilty Jan. 8 to a charge she failed to pay her business’ sales taxes two or more times in a 12-month period in 2007.
Judge Tim Bjorkman granted Sterk a suspended imposition, which means she has the chance to keep the felony off her record if she follows all the terms of her probation.
Sterk was ordered to pay restitution of $39,314.24 for the unpaid sales taxes, and fined $750.
Bjorkman ordered Sterk to serve her jail time starting with 30 days immediately, then 30 days starting Jan. 1, 2014, and 30 days starting Jan. 1, 2015. Sterk was granted permission to serve her jail time on weekends.
