Dona Meyers, Mitchell

Dona M. Meyers, 85, Mitchell, formerly of Huron, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 3013, at Avera Heart Hospital, Sioux Falls.

She was born on Jan. 26, 1928.

Private family services will be held in St. Paul Minn., at a later date.

Memorials may be directed to the Holy Trinity Catholic School, Huron; or John Paul II Catholic School, Mitchell.

Arrangements are under the direction of Kuhler Funeral Home, Huron.

Dona was born in St. Paul, Minn., to Julia and William Ranslow Zuber Jr.

She attended school at St. Rose of Lima in St. Paul and then business school in St. Paul.

On Oct. 6, 1953, she married Francis P. Meyers at St. Rose of Lima Church in St. Paul.

They lived in St. Paul and then in Montana for five years before moving to Huron in 1963.

Dona was actively involved in the education and care of children. She taught at Kindernook Preschool for eight years and was instrumental in starting Safety Town in Huron. She also worked at the Center for Independence and Tot Town Day Care before providing in-home care-giving services. She moved to Mitchell in 2009.

A longtime member of the Church of the Resurrection in Huron, now Holy Trinity Parish, she also belonged to a number of bridge clubs. Dona enjoyed reading, working with children and just visiting with people.

She is survived by three children: Michelle Lottman, Sioux Falls; Jerry (Lisa) Meyers, Kansas City, Mo.; and Joanna Meyers, Mitchell; two grandchildren: Adam Shoultz and Jacob Lottman; and a great-granddaughter, Addison Jackson.

Her parents and her husband preceded her in death.
