Pierre woman dies after car launches off overpass on I-90 near Presho

PRESHO — A Pierre woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash shortly before 11:30 p.m. Sunday near Presho.

Casey Lynn Crane, 31, was driving westbound on I-90 near mile marker 225 in a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix when the vehicle left the roadway and traveled into the median, according to a state Department of Public Safety news release.

Crane’s vehicle hit a guardrail anchor and continued to slide in the median until it launched from an overpass grade and came to rest on the road below the interstate overpass.

Crane was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle during the crash. She died at the scene.

No further information is immediately available, the release says.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating. The Lyman County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
