Gann Valley woman arrested after child’s death

GANN VALLEY — A Gann Valley woman has been arrested in connection with the death of a 4-year-old child.

GANN VALLEY — A Gann Valley woman has been arrested in connection with the death of a 4-year-old child.

Donika Gonzales, 22, was arrested Friday and charged with one count of abuse or cruelty to a minor, a felony with a maximum punishment of 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine.

According to a press release issued Friday by the state Attorney General’s Office, the charge stems from an incident that happened Thursday at a residence in rural Gann Valley.

The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation and Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office were involved in the investigation.
