The Todd County vs. Winner girls’ basketball game for the District 13A championship was postponed.

The game was originally scheduled for Thursday but was moved to today. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. in Gregory.

SDSU women win Summit League

BROOKINGS — Hannah Strop recorded a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds as the South Dakota State women’s basketball team defeated Omaha 69-56 Thursday night at Frost Arena.

The Jacks claimed the Summit League title outright with the win, improving to 21-7 overall and 13-2 in the league.

The title marks the second consecutive regular season title and fourth in six seasons as a member of the Summit League.

Megan Waytashek added 12 points for the Jackrabbits, who finished the game 25-of-54 from the floor.

The Jackrabbits were perfect from the free-throw line at 11-of-11.

Paige Frauendorfer led the Mavericks with a team-high 24 points and seven rebounds. Omaha fell to 16-9 overall and 6-7 in the Summit League.

Omaha ended the night 21-of-61 from the field and 10-of-12 from the free-throw line.

SDSU won the rebound advantage by outrebounding Omaha 39-31, led by Strop’s 13 rebounds.

The Jackrabbits finish the regular season Mar. 2 at North Dakota State in Fargo.

Wilson leads USD women past IUPUI

VERMILLION — Led by Tempest Wilson’s 17 points, the University of South Dakota women’s basketball team defeated IUPUI 56-39 Thursday at the DakotaDome, ending the Jaguars’ five-game win streak.

Polly Harrington recorded her second consecutive double-double in the win with 16 points and 10 rebounds. The Coyotes shot 22-of-51 for the game.

USD improves to 13-14 overall and 8-6 in the Summit League with the win.

Nicole Seekamp had a career-high nine assists on the team’s 18 total assists.

Dee-Dee Bellamy had 10 points, seven rebounds and three steals to lead IUPUI and DeAirra Goos added nine points. The Jaguars, who are 16-10 overall and 9-4 in the league, shot 13-of-64 for the game.

The Coyotes see their next action against Western Illinois at 2 p.m. Saturday in Vermillion.

DWU women’s golf team adds recruit

The Dakota Wesleyan University women’s golf team added its second member to its 2013-2014 recruiting Thursday.

DWU Coach Adam Anderson announced the signing of April Barnett.

Barnett a Lakeview, Texas, native won the Texas Class 1A title last spring and helped her team capture the 1A team title.

Amateur baseball meeting to be held Sunday

The South Dakota Amateur Baseball Association’s annual meeting will be held Sunday at the Highland Conference Center in Mitchell.

The day will start with a free buffet at noon with the meeting to follow. All fans, managers, players and any interested parties are invited to attend.

Bantam A, Girls’ JV teams to play in state tourneys

The Mitchell Marlin Bantam A and girls’ junior varsity hockey teams begin their quests for state titles today.

The girls are seeded No. 1 in the tournament and play Yankton in the first round at 8 p.m. today in Yankton.

The Marlins are undefeated this season at 20-0-1. This is the first time a Mitchell girls’ team has been undefeated in the history of Marlins hockey, according to girls’ coach Randy Rezac.

The Bantam A team opens its state tournament against Oahe at 12:30 p.m. at the Sioux Falls EXPO Building.

Both tournaments play throught Sunday afternoon.
