25-year-old Sioux Falls man pleads guilty to raping girl

SIOUX FALLS (AP) — A 25-year-old Minnesota man has pleaded guilty to raping a Brandon girl while living at her home in 2011 and 2012.

The media reports that Justin Michael Steenstra, of Jasper, Minn., pleaded guilty to two counts of rape of one girl Wednesday as part of a plea deal that saw remaining counts dropped.

Steenstra had been indicted in July on 32 rape and sexual contact counts of two victims, 11-year-old girls from Brandon.

The deal caps his prison time for the rape charge at 80 years with additional time suspended.

Before accepting a guilty plea, Judge Mark Salter told Steenstra to be aware that he will not have immunity related to additional rape allegations beyond Minnehaha County.

Steenstra's sentencing is set for April 6.
