Jackson Feiner made his senior night one to remember.
Feiner scored a career-high 31 points to help lift the Mitchell Christian boys’ basketball team to its fourth win of the season.
“Jackson came out ready to play,” said MCS coach Dennis Martin, whose team defeated Wessington Springs 76-66 Monday at Mitchell Christian School in its final game of the regular season. “He went to work and the shots came for him.”
The Golden Eagles honored two other seniors in the game in Adam Rasmussen and Keegan Larson-Shields, who scored four points in the win. Rasmussen scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to record his third straight double-double.
Mitchell Christian outrebounded the Spartans 40-22.
“The key for the game was our rebounding,” said Martin, whose team finished the regular season 4-16. “We had two or three extra looks on some shots, and we were also able to cut down on turnovers, which is always a big factor.”
The Golden Eagles committed 13 turnovers in the game, while Wessington Springs had 12.
Wessington Springs (4-16) was led by Branden Jones with 25 points. Jones also brought down a team-high six rebounds.
“We’re excited about winning close to districts,” Martin said. “We have a good week of practice ahead of us to get ready for the postseason, so we’re going to take advantage of that.”
Wessington Springs won the JV game.
Mitchell Christian plays in the first round of the District 10B tournament Feb. 28 against the loser of the Corsica/Stickney vs. Kimball/White Lake game Thursday.
