Haiar earns Navy Achievement Medal

Mass Communications Specialist Joshua David Haiar, Mitchell, has been awarded the Navy Achievement Medal.

Mass Communications Specialist Joshua David Haiar has been awarded the Navy Achievement Medal.

He was recognized for superior performance of duties while serving as a member of firing party and as operations petty officer with the U.S. Navy Ceremonial Guard from June 2011 through December 2012. He was responsible for 350 personnel and oversaw scheduling, manning and transportation for 800 ceremonies consisting of full honors funerals at Arlington National Cemetery, dignified transfers, foreign dignitary arrivals and other high profile ceremonies.

He has recently been assigned to the USS Nimitz and is stationed at Naval Base, Everett, Wash.

Haiar is the son of Paul and Julie Haiar, Mitchell; and the grandson of Reg and Olive Martin, Mitchell; and the late Sylvester and Yvonne Haiar.
