A Mitchell man admitted Tuesday to violating multiple terms of his probation and was sentenced to two years in prison.
Robert Barnes, 34, admitted he was convicted of false reporting last June, failed to notify his probation officer when he left his job and moved to Louisiana for another job, failed to appear for a 24/7 Sobriety program appointment and failed to complete treatment — all violations of his probation from a 2011 third-offense drunken driving conviction.
Barnes, who chose to represent himself in court, asked Judge Tim Bjorkman for another chance on probation. He was not on his prescribed medications during the time he violated his probation, Barnes explained.
Davison County Deputy State’s Attorney Bob O’Keefe asked for Barnes’ suspended two-year prison term to be reimposed.
Bjorkman reinstated the two-year prison term and gave Barnes credit for the 111 days he served in jail.
Barnes was immediately remanded to the custody of the Davison County Sheriff’s Office for transport to prison.
