Montrose to celebrate fundraising success

Town raises $100,000, gets $25,000 matching grant.

MONTROSE — The Montrose Area Foundation is set to receive a $25,000 matching grant from the South Dakota Community Foundation for completing its Community Savings Account challenge of raising $100,000.

A celebration and check presentation will be at 6 p.m. Feb. 23 in the American Legion Hall. Montrose area residents and stakeholders are invited to attend the event, which will include a potluck dinner followed by the check presentation and complimentary bingo and popcorn

“We appreciate all of our donors, board members and community representatives for their support of the Montrose Area Foundation,” said Dean Kueter, president of the Montrose Area Foundation. “This foundation was started by individuals who believe in the future growth and sustainability of our community. Turns out, there are a lot of us who believe in Montrose,” he continued.

The Montrose Area Foundation was founded in 2008 as a way of supporting nonprofit and charitable projects and organizations working hard for the Montrose area and its residents.

The fund is a permanent endowment with the South Dakota Community Foundation and managed by a local board of directors. The South Dakota Community Foundation is a public nonprofit organization established in 1987. The foundation combines money from 594 funds for investment and administration purposes.

Earnings from $150 million are available for distribution for nonprofit, charitable and scholarship purposes.
