A 19-year-old Mitchell man is charged with four counts of intentionally causing contact with bodily fluids for allegedly spitting blood on four people around 1:45 a.m. Sunday in Mitchell.

Jeffrey Duane McGhee Jr. was arrested after an altercation with his neighbor in the 500 block of West First Avenue. According to court documents, McGhee was intoxicated and went to his neighbor’s home where he began to argue with her and “get in her face.”

McGhee was struck in the mouth, which caused him to bleed, court documents say, and then he intentionally spat blood on four people, including directly in the neighbor’s face.

Each of the four counts is a misdemeanor with a maximum punishment of one year in jail and a $2,000 fine.

McGhee was also charged with underage consumption of alcohol. Court documents say his blood alcohol content was 0.156 around the time of his arrest.

McGhee is scheduled to appear in court later this month.
