Spearfish hospital receives new trauma designation
The hospital's designation as a Level III trauma center recognizes around-the-clock emergency care and staff for resuscitation, surgery, and intensive care for most trauma victims.
SPEARFISH (AP) — The Spearfish Regional Hospital in South Dakota has been cited by a national health care group for its trauma care.
The hospital's designation as a Level III trauma center recognizes around-the-clock emergency care and staff for resuscitation, surgery, and intensive care for most trauma victims.
The new status from the American College of Surgeons recognizes the Spearfish facility as one of the top five in the state to treat victims of violent injury.
A survey team inspected the hospital in December and evaluated its procedures.
The hospital serves a four-state area including northwest South Dakota, southwest North Dakota, northeast Wyoming and southeast Montana.
