Things to remember
BINGO AND SOUP OFFERED BY LOCAL CHURCH: Bingo will be played from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 17, at Holy Spirit Parish Hall, Mitchell.
Cards are two for 25 cents and a soup supper will follow the games. The menu is soup, fresh bread, bars, juice and coffee. A free-will offering will be taken.

Today in local history
On this date in 2008, two bills dealing with the creation of a statewide minimum salary for teachers and a three-tiered system to pay teachers for experience was facing an uphill battle in South Dakota’s Legislature.
HB 1262 and HB 1124 would work to pay teachers according to their experience, progress in the classroom and success in obtaining advanced educational degrees.
