MHS show choir takes third place

Mitchell High School's Friend de Coup show choir earned third place at a competition in LaCrosse, Wis.

Mitchell High School’s show choir Friend de Coup had a strong showing over the weekend at the LaCrosse Logan (HS) Invitational, LaCrosse , Wis.

The group took third place out of more than 20 groups competing.

They also won the Best Opening Song Award and the People’s Choice Award.

“I was very happy with how we performed,” said director Chris Miller.

Mitchell senior Bradley White also won a “Showstopper Award,” an award given to outstanding male performers.

The group’s next competition will be Feb. 23 in Vermillion for the Rhythm and Red Invitational.

“I feel like we will do pretty well there,” Miller said. “It’s going to be best groups from South Dakota and Iowa will be there but we should have a good showing.”

The remaining Friend de Coup season also includes the following competitions:

* March 2: Totino Grace (HS) Spectacular, Fridley, Minn.

* March 9: Wheaton Warrenville South Choral Classic, Wheaton, Ill.

* March 16: CP – Mitchell Show Choir Classic, 18 groups. Mitchell will host and perform, but will not compete.
