DWU (19-9, 10-8 GPAC) defeated Nebraska Wesleyan University 81-53 in a Great Plains Athletic Conference women’s basketball game.

The Tigers wrap up their regular season this week with two games against nationally ranked teams. DWU hosts No. 11 Northwestern at 6 p.m. Saturday and hosts No. 9 Briar Cliff at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

“With Nebraska Wesleyan, we knew they’ve been struggling,” DWU coach Jason Christensen said. “We wanted to get this win and get ready for the coming week.”

Against NWU (3-21, 1-18), the Tigers were 15-of-28 from the field in the first half, won the rebounding battle in the game 39-38 and had only nine turnovers.

Hart was 4-of-13 from behind the three-point line and Johnson was 5-of-7 from the field and knocked down six of her seven free throws. The Tigers’ only other scorer in double figures was Brittany Hills, who had 13 points and nine rebounds.

“She played a pretty good game and is having a real good season,” Christensen said. “She never sticks out for us in the stats line, but she does a lot of good things for us.”

Katie Johnson and Lexie Christenen each had nine points for the Tigers, who recorded 18 assists, led by Taylor Piper’s five.

Nebraska Wesleya’s Courtney Cook had a team-high 13 points and Mallory Shanahan had 15 rebounds.
