Mount Vernon Cemetery Association accepting mowing bids

The Mount Vernon Cemetery Association is accepting bids for the 2013 mowing season. The bid submitted must be per occurrence with trimming included.

The deadline for receiving bids is March 1. Please sent inquiries and bids to Linda Jones, 25511 398th Ave., Mount Vernon, S.D., 57363; phone: 236-5512.

Any and all bids may be accepted or rejected by the Cemetery Board.

The Cemetery Association will hold the annual meeting on March 3 at 7 p.m. at Westy’s. The public is invited to attend.

Activities for the week of Feb. 11-18 include:

Today, parent-teacher conferences will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. It is also the deadline to order daffodils to help the American Cancer Society.

Tuesday, there will be a boys’ junior high basketball game at Chamberlain, beginning at 4:30 p.m. This has been rescheduled from Jan. 31. The girls’ basketball team will play at Hanson with a C game at 5:15 p.m., JV at 6:15 p.m. and the varsity at 7:45 p.m.

Thursday, the girls’ basketball team will host Parkston in Mount Vernon with the C game at 5:15 p.m., the JV game at 6:30 p.m. and a varsity game at 8 p.m.

Friday, the boys’ basketball team will travel to Parkston with a JV game at 4 p.m., a C game at 5:15 p.m., a JV game at 6:30 p.m. and the varsity game at 8 p.m.

Saturday will be the boys’ varsity regional wrestling tournament in Wagner beginning at 11 a.m.

Monday, Feb. 18, there will be no school in Mount Vernon. The boys’ basketball team will travel to McCook Central for a C game at 5 p.m., a JV game at 6:15 p.m. and a varsity game at 7:45 p.m.
