The South Dakota Amateur Baseball Association will hold its annual meeting at noon Sunday at the Highland Conference Center in Mitchell.

The meeting will begin with a meal and will cover the year’s activities, financial reports and other business.

Second annual youth fishing tourney today

The Mitchell Elks/Antlers hosts the second annual youth fishing tournament today at the Sportsman’s Club in Mitchell.

The tournament is free to all youth from ages 2 through 20. Registration is scheduled for 7:30- 9 a.m.

A limited number of fishing poles will be available for those without them. Over $4,000 in prizes will be awarded.

Knights of Columbus hoop shoot postponed

The District Knights of Columbus hoop shoot contest has been postponed until Feb. 24.

The contest is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. at Parkston High School.

Marlin boys edged by Cougars 5-4

ABERDEEN — Alex Murtha recorded a hat trick but the Mitchell Marlin boys’ varsity hockey team lost to Aberdeen 5-4 Friday.

The Marlins were down 2-0 after one period but came back with a goal from Ben Hogan and three consecutive goals by Murtha in the second to lead 4-3 at the end of two.

The Cougars scored two goals in the third period to edge the Marlins 5-4.

Mitchell’s Kaleb Niehoff, Jacob Cersosimo, Cole Koons and Mitch Berens each earned an assist in the game.

Aberdeen outshot Mitchell (2-13) 33-22 in the game and Marlin goalie Weston Gauger made 28 saves.

Marlin girls beat Aberdeen 6-3

The Mitchell Marlins girls’ varsity hockey team beat the Aberdeen Cougars 6-3 Friday in Mitchell.

Haley Stahl scored four of the Marlins’ six goals. Jacey Brunsen and Bailey Hohn each scored a goal

Kassi Barington led the Marlins in assists with three and Kylie Barrington had two.

Hannah Spates finished with 24 saves for the Marlins who are now 6-9-3.
