LETTER: Government getting involved in too much
South Dakota wants more restrictions on young drivers, and Nebraska wants such on the old drivers. Those two groups may be those least likely to complain.By: Rex Alberts, Yankton
To the Editor:
South Dakota wants more restrictions on young drivers, and Nebraska wants such on the old drivers. Those two groups may be those least likely to complain.
If you want a new law or regulation for your neighbors, just claim it will save lives. That’s not quite like one in three million will be shot in a U.S. school.
Now, the law will stop and smell your breath anywhere, but they seem to leave texting, which is many time more dangerous, alone even though about 40 states have it as illegal. They say it is difficult to enforce, but is murder easy?
Very few persons over 80 are in a fatal crash, but the government wants you off the road. The government usually looks for business when they shut some down.
Then the government in its all gracious manner can set up a program to transport these older citizens to the doctor, the grocery store and the drug store. Won’t this be handy when 40 miles from town? It is fine when government kills in the womb and in wars.
