He was born on Jan. 25, 1919.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Heritage Funeral Home, Sioux Falls. Burial, with military honors will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Spencer. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.

Glenn LeRoy Schoepf was born in Spencer to Otto and Dora (Brunken) Schoepf.

He was raised in the area, and graduated from Spencer High School in 1936.

Glenn was united in marriage to Deloris June Dunn on May 10, 1941, in Spencer. The couple made their home in Spencer, where Glenn worked as a crane operator at Spencer Quarries.

In September 1942, Glenn joined the Army and served in the European Theatre, where he received the European Theatre Ribbon. He earned five Battle Stars at Belgium Croix DeGuerre for defense of St. Vith in the Battle of the Bulge.

In 1948, he moved with his family to Wagner, where he owned and operated the Wagner Bowl. After selling the Wagner Bowl, he helped start the National Guard unit in Wagner.

The family lived in Wagner for 22 years before moving to Rapid City in 1970. There he worked for the State Headquarters as the State Maintenance Officer. Glenn retired from the National Guard in 1976, and he and his wife wintered in Texas for 12 years, where Glenn enjoyed golfing and crafts.

Glenn was a life member of VFW and the DAV. He also was American Legion Commander in Wagner. In Rapid City, he was a member of the Elks, and in Sioux Falls he was a member of Prairie Green Golf Course.

Grateful for having shared his life are his children: Gen (Lorean) Schoepf of Sioux Falls; Victor (Kathie) Schoepf of Granbury, Texas; and Patricia (Frank) Currier of New Ulm, Minn.; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Meals on Wheels or the Sanford Hospice Cottage.
