Stanley Councillor, 75, Mitchell, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at his home under hospice care.

Stanley Councillor, 75, Mitchell, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at his home under hospice care.

He was born on Sept. 26, 1937.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bittner Funeral Chapel, Mitchell. Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.

He was born at Fort Thompson to Edward and Hermane (Touched) Councillor. He grew up and attended the Mission School in Stephan.

At the age of 16 he joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served for eight years and then was employed by Lockheed as a jet engine mechanic until 1975.

On Feb. 28, 1989, he married Teresa Brewer in Tampa, Fla. While residing in Tampa, Stanley was a professional gambler, betting on the horses. He retired in 2007 and they moved to Mitchell.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa; three sons: Michael Councillor and Patrick Councillor, New Mexico; Charles Councillor, Lake Park, Ga.; one daughter, Lisa Hamm, Rio Rancho, N.M.; two brothers: Melvin Grey Owl and Donnie Grey Owl, Fort Thompson; granddaughter, Mikki Jo Keeble; grandson, Pat Clark and numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and nephew, Michael (Kathryn) Keeble and numerous other nieces and nephews.
