Things to remember
LIBRARY HOLDS USED BOOK SALE: A used book sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, in the Community Room, of the Mitchell Public Library, Mitchell.
Donations are always welcome but they must be in clean and usable condition. They can be dropped off at the library during regular library hours. Proceeds from the book sale are used for children’s and young adult programming at the library.
KIMBALL CHURCH HOSTS PANCAKE BREAKFAST: A pancake breakfast will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10, at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church basement, Kimball.
Menu includes sausage, scrambled eggs, toast, coffee and juice. Cost is $4 for adults, $2 for children or a family for $12. The event is sponsored by Father O’Gorman Council, Knights of Columbus, Kimball/White Lake.

Saturday mail delivery in Canada was eliminated by Canada Post on Feb. 1, 1969. Saturday mail delivery in the United States will be discontinued in August 2013.
Today in local history
On this date in 2011, it was announced that Mitchell had set the biggest sales tax year (2010) in its history. The city had received nearly $9.5 million from first and second penny sales tax collections. The “bed, board and booze” tax also set a record in 2010, surpassing the record set in 2009.
