Powerball ticket worth $10,000 sold in Spearfish

SPEARFISH (AP) — A ticket sold in Spearfish is worth $10,000 in the latest Powerball drawing.

South Dakota lottery officials say the ticket matched four of five white balls and the Powerball in Wednesday's drawing to win the game's third prize. The odds of winning it are one in about 649,000.

Powerball is played in 42 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The jackpot sits at $40 million for the next drawing, on Saturday.

Separately, a Canton woman has claimed a $6,000 Wild Card 2 prize. Gloria Bartels' ticket was one of two sold for the Feb. 2 drawing that was worth $6,000. The other ticket was sold in Pierre and has yet to be claimed. Wild Card 2 is played in the Dakotas, Montana and Idaho.
