Teacher Erin Olson said students of the Interact student service club at Second Chance High School are collecting non-perishable food items this week as part of the Salvation Army Food Drive.
“The students will be helping Salvation Army to re-stock its food pantry, which was depleted by heavy demand over the holidays,” Olson said.
Drop box collection points will be available this week at local First Dakota, CorTrust and Home Federal bank locations; at Dice Financial; at the McGovern Library on the Dakota Wesleyan University campus; and at KORN and Q107 radio stations.
Needed canned goods include tomatoes (regular and stewed), vegetables, fruit, kidney beans, tuna, chicken, all soups, pork and beans, ravioli, SpaghettiOs and tomato juice.
Boxed items needed are pasta, macaroni and cheese, saltines, peanut butter, tuna helper and potatoes.
