Lower Brule man sentenced for assaulting, resisting officer

LOWER BRULE — A Lower Brule man was sentenced Monday to one year in prison for assaulting, resisting and impeding a federal officer.

LOWER BRULE — A Lower Brule man was sentenced Monday to one year in prison for assaulting, resisting and impeding a federal officer.

James Ewing Jr., 30, was indicted Sept. 19 by a federal grand jury after an incident April 3 in Lower Brule in which Ewing assaulted and resisted a Bureau of Indian Affairs officer. He pleaded guilty Nov. 29.

Ewing was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
