Dakota Wesleyan University’s music department will hit the road this month with six concerts scheduled at five locations in four days.
Dr. Clinton Desmond, choral director at DWU, and Erin Desmond, voice instructor and university accompanist, will lead four groups — the Dakota Wesleyan Choir, Wesleyan Bells, Highlanders and Women’s Chamber Ensemble — during each concert.
The choir tour will begin in North Mankato, Minn., on Feb. 22, and continue through Minnesota until the final concert on Feb. 26 in Mitchell. All concerts are free and open to the public.
The concert dates are as follows:
* 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 22, Belgrade Avenue Methodist Church, North Mankato;
* 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 23, Walker Place Methodist Retirement Village, Minneapolis; and 7 p.m., Messiah United Methodist Church, Plymouth;
* 8:45 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 24, Messiah United Methodist Church, Fridley, and 3 p.m., Fridley United Methodist Church, Fridley;
* 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 26, Mitchell First United Methodist Church.
Music selections range from sacred to secular in various genres.
