A story that began on Page A1 of Wednesday’s edition said resolutions passed last year and this year by the Legislature regarding animal-rights activities are almost identical. While that is true, there is one significant difference in the two resolutions: Last year’s resolution identified the Humane Society of the United States and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals as groups opposed by the Legislature; this year’s resolution does not identify any specific organizations and instead refers generically to “groups” whose activities the Legislature opposes.
