HURON — Turnovers hurt the Mitchell Christian boys’ basketball team in a 70-44 loss to No. 2 James Valley Christian Tuesday in Huron.
The Eagles (2-13) committed 24 turnovers in the game, while the Vikings (16-0) turned the ball over just nine times.
“Turnovers killed us in the first half,” Mitchell Christian coach Dennis Martin said. “We knew we had to take care of the basketball but just didn’t execute the way we wanted to.”
James Valley Christian’s Adam Hofer led all players with 25 points, making four 3-pointers in the win. Andrew Ulvestad had 14 points and a team-high five rebounds and Nathan Wedel added 12 points in the contest.
The Vikings were 24-of-48 from the field had 22 steals, while Mitchell Christian was 15-of-33 from the field and won the rebounding battle 30-23.
Adam Rasmussen led the Eagles with 19 points and a game-high 12 rebounds for a double-double. Wes VanderPol scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Chandler Nelson also had eight rebounds.
The Eagles play Hanson Thursday at 8 p.m. in Alexandria.
