Fort Thompson man denies drug, firearm charges

FORT THOMPSON — A Fort Thompson man pleaded not guilty Jan. 25 to drug- and firearm-related charges.

Samuel Redwater, 22, was indicted by a federal grand jury Jan. 16 on one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, and a firearm offense for allegedly carrying and using a firearm while committing the drug offense.

If convicted, he would face a maximum of 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and five years of supervised release. Redwater could face an additional three years of supervised release upon revocation.

The investigation is being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kathryn N. Rich is prosecuting the case.

Redwater was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service. A trial date has not been set.
