From left, Maynard Moege, Josh Bialas, Jacki Miskimins and Mari Olson cheer on their respective wind-up chickens during Saturday’s Wingapalooza event at the Masonic Lodge in Mitchell. Event goers paid to bet on a chicken, then wound them up and hoped they made it to the finish line. The day also included a wing eating contest. Ryan Mueller won after downing 15 wings. American Garage Door took home the prize for hottest wings and Mueller Lumber for best decorations. In the taste competition, Moonlight Bar and Lounge won the People’s Choice award, while American Garage Door came in first place from the judge panel, with Moonlight Bar in second and Mueller Lumber and County Fair Food Store tying for third. The event was sponsored by Mitchell Main Street & Beyond and Time at the Table. Molly Goldsmith, with MMS&B, said about 215 people attended the afternoon event. (Candy DenOuden/Republic)
