Marlin girls fall to Huron 5-3
The Mitchell Marlin girls’ varsity hockey team suffered a 5-3 loss to Huron Sunday at the Mitchell Activities Center.
The Mitchell Marlin girls’ varsity hockey team suffered a 5-3 loss to Huron Sunday at the Mitchell Activities Center.
The Marlins struck first scoring two goals in the first period. Alex Jones scored the first goal and Ashley Murtha put the puck in the net for the second goal with an assist by Kylie Barington.
The All Stars answered in the second period, scoring three unanswered goals.
Barington tied the game at 3-3 40 seconds into the third period. Murtha and Kassi Barington had the assist.
Huron scored back-to-back goals and lifted its record to 10-5-1. Ashtyn Cobb and Hope Goethel scored two goals apiece.
The All Stars outshot Mitchell 31-21, and Marlin goalie Hannah Spates made 26 saves in the game.
The Marlins dropped to 5-9-3 on the season and play at Brookings Thursday.
