A machine shed and its contents succumbed to a fire on Saturday, according to Jones County officials.

Jones County Sheriff John Weber said a machine shed near Draper, owned by Dean Volmer, caught fire about 2 p.m. Saturday. No one was injured.

Weber estimated it to be a total loss, along with the contents, which he said included “a couple of tractors” and other farm equipment.

Weber said while the cause of the fire is still being determined, preliminary investigation suggests it was started by an electrical heater on one of the tractors.

The sheriff also said the Draper, Murdo and Vivian volunteer fire departments responded to the blaze, along with the Jones County Sheriff’s Department.
