LETTER: Government actions haven’t proven helpful

The federal government took billions from Social Security and from the Postal Service while there is huge known fraud and theft in Medicare, IRS, Medicaid, the military.

To the Editor:

The federal government took billions from Social Security and from the Postal Service while there is huge known fraud and theft in Medicare, IRS, Medicaid, the military, etc. Below are some past government actions.

About 50 years ago, government and the courts basically took “discipline” out of homes and schools — too dangerous with no shootings and little needed law enforcement. Is it better today?

Government had dairy cows killed to help that business. Is it better today?

Federal government became involved in the state functions of schools and now we rank very poorly internationally. Is it better today?

Government has older vehicles destroyed with many miles and parts left so we have pretty ones on the highways while poor people will pay more or go without. Is it better today?

Government moved mental cases out of institutions and now many are under bridges or on the streets with guns. Is it better today?

One well-trained dog at even a large school is effective and is far less expensive than policemen and expensive fences.
