Avera Queen of Peace elects Medical Executive Committee
At the January general staff meeting, the following physicians were elected to serve on the Avera Queen of Peace Medical Executive Committee for the 2013 Medical Staff year commencing on Feb. 1: Dr. Kelly Smith, president; Dr. David Malters, president-elect/vice president; Dr. William Graham, secretary; Drs. Brian Kampmann and Martin Christensen, members at large; Dr. Shawn Haley, hospital-based; and Dr. Jennifer Tegethoff, immediate past president.
Tegethoff was thanked for her year of staff leadership. Also thanked was Dr. Robert Snortum, who completed his tenure on the medical executive committee.
In addition to the duties associated with president of the medical staff, Smith will represent the medical staff on the Avera Queen of Peace board of directors.
The Avera Queen of Peace medical executive committee meets monthly to coordinate the activities and general policies of the medical/dental staff.
It also performs duties and carries out responsibilities as they pertain to credentials, accreditation, and disaster functions; professional library supervision; and bylaws, rules and regulations review of the medical/dental staff.
