The Palace City Lions will provide free vision screenings from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday during the Health Fair at Mitchell Christian School.
This screening process is part of the South Dakota Lions kids.see program.
Palace City Lions has already screened more than 1,000 children in the Mitchell area. With its new Pediavision “Spot Vision” screening machine, it can screen children as young as 6 months old.
“It is important to identify visual problems prior to beginning school,” said club president Cindy Easton. “Nearly 80 percent of what we learn is through vision.”
In addition to the screenings, the Palace City Lions will collect used eyeglasses and hearing aids to be refurbished and distributed to needy people throughout South Dakota and around the world.
