A fourth person has been arrested in connection with an early morning brawl on New Year’s Day in an alleyway behind a bar in downtown Mitchell.

Houston Redday, 24, of Mitchell, was arrested Jan. 22 and charged with simple assault for allegedly being one of many people to hit another man while he was being held down, a police affidavit says.

The man who was allegedly attacked is identified in various court documents as Joe Charginghawk.

Authorities say the incident occurred in the 400 block of North Main Street in the west alleyway behind the Moonlight Bar and Lounge and involved as many as 14 people.

Redday could be sentenced to a maximum of one year in jail and a $2,000 fine if convicted. He is scheduled to appear in court in February.

Three other Mitchell residents have already been arrested in connection with the incident.

Melissa Larvie, 24, is charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of simple assault for allegedly throwing a brick that struck one woman in the face and punching another woman.

Larvie faces a maximum of 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine if convicted of aggravated assault, a felony, and a maximum of one year in jail and a $2,000 fine if convicted of simple assault, a misdemeanor.

She is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing in February.

Amber Thalman, 25, was arrested Jan. 4 and charged with simple assault for kicking the same man Redday allegedly hit. She pleaded guilty Jan. 17.

Thalman was sentenced to 90 days in jail with 88 days suspended and put on probation for 360 days. She was also fined $250 and ordered to pay court costs of $84, and any restitution ordered in the case.

Alisha Munroe, 21, was arrested Jan. 8 and charged with simple assault for also kicking the same man Thalman has admitted to kicking and Redday allegedly hit.

Munroe is scheduled to be arraigned in court Thursday morning.
